SERMONS AND SCRIPTURES FOR APRIL

April 1— PALM SUNDAY

“Journey to Hope. In the midst of pain!” Matthew 21:6-9, Psalm 31:5, Mark 14:43-64

HOLY COMMUNION On this Palm Sunday, we will “flashback” to the accolades which were given to Christ upon His triumphant entry into Jerusalem. Would we have started this journey, if we had realized the pain along the way? When hope seems most elusive, it may be just around the corner.

April 5— MAUNDY THURSDAY

“LAST SUPPER” PERFORMANCE “Journey to Hope. Being with Community.” Mark 14:12-26

Community was gathered around the table with Christ the night before he gave himself up to be crucified. As we remember this important gathering, we too gather around the table, sharing the cup and breaking bread with one another in an Experiential Lord’s Supper.

April 8— EASTER SUNDAY

“Journey to Hope. The Journey Continues.” Mark 16:1-8

When all hope feels lost, it has truly just begun. The journey continues.

April 15— EASTER CANTATA

“Come Walk With Me: Through the Passion and Resurrection of Christ.”

The Chancel Choir and Messengers of Praise will be presenting the Easter cantata at the 9:00 and 10:30 a.m. services.
The musical style blends bluegrass and country instrumentation, with traditional four-part harmonies.
Singing will be blended with an assortment of many types of instruments, i.e. the dulcimer, autoharp, violin, viola, penny whistle, flute, trumpet, English horn and oboe.
Please bring your friends and family and join us in musical celebration of the “Passion and Resurrection of Christ!”

April 22

“Perfect Refreshment.” Acts 3

Augustine’s view of the “mixed body of believers” to stay united until Christ’s second coming.

April 29— SHAREFEST WEEKEND
“Early Church Witnesses: Healing the Lame of Israel.” Acts 3:1-4:4

We begin a series on the Book of Acts, after they became a church, and look at the first story of healing a lame man.
